The role of the DR Management referent

Dataverse, data management plan, repositories, Datapaper... are you lost? Gaëlle Jaouen, AgroParisTech research engineer at UMR EcoFoG since 2012, will be happy to guide you.

Within the unit

My role is to manage the unit's data.  I support, advise and train all those who handle and produce data, both in the various stages of research projects and in the overall management of data assets.

When we talk about data management, the aim is to organize, standardize, document, enrich and conserve this heritage as effectively as possible, and to anticipate its evolution and use. The more teams anticipate data management at an early stage of their project, the easier this work becomes, since it's essential to be able to foresee all stages and requirements.

Internal tools are used to share data during projects. Then, as soon as the work is sufficiently advanced, it's time to publish the data in a data warehouse like the EcoFoG DataVerse and via one or more DataPaper(s) to make them visible and usable outside the lab.

At national level

With a colleague based in Paris, I'm also in charge of steering AgroParisTech's institutional policy for managing and opening up research data. This mission involves providing training and producing resources accessible to all. We collaborate with numerous partner establishments (INRAe, universities, CNRS, CIRAD, etc.) and represent AgroParisTech to the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.

Finally, as part of the nascent PEPR Forestt adventure, I'll be actively involved in the NumData Targeted Project 5 team.
